It’s time to meet your 2025 Brimbank Youth Council!

The Brimbank Youth Council is made up of young people in the area, who are motivated, excited and determined to represent the young community of Brimbank.

2025 Brimbank Youth Councillor Aimi is a Vietnamese secondary school student who’s a hockey star, both indoor and on the field.

Find out more about her below!

Tell us more about yourself!

I’m a 15-year-old, Vietnamese high school student who studies in the Brimbank area, who is extremely passionate about field and indoor hockey.

I love to tackle leadership roles within and outside of my school community, and have taken on roles like college ambassador, campus captain, and learner mentor representative.

My favourite subjects in school are economics, legal studies, and biology. In my free time, I do my best to devote my time to helping out the community, with fundraisers and local events, as well as research groups helping those in need.

Why did you join the BYC?

I joined BYC so that I could have an opportunity to voice the community’s values, as well as develop my confidence and leadership skills.

I also want to give back to the community, help out with environmental issues, meet new people, hear what everyone else has to share, and gain new knowledge on topics I’ve never heard of.

 What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about the environment as it’s such an important part of our life, yet we don’t cherish it and care for it enough as we should.

Bringing justice not only to the less fortunate, but to those who are facing an unfair workplace, due to their jobs, race, and culture is also important to me.

What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?

I’m hoping that we can achieve a better state of cleanliness throughout the City of Brimbank, so that our people can live in health rather than a place polluted by trash.

What does a better Brimbank look like to you?

A clean place, which everyone can thrive in, with clean air and peace. Less crime, more community spirit and all together just a city where everyone can be the best of themselves.

What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?

Stand up and don’t be afraid to voice your own opinion. Every voice counts, even if you’re quiet. It never hurts to speak up for yourself, it’ll only ever create good.
