Tell us more about yourself!
Hi! My name is Cara and I’m currently 12 years old and in grade 7. My hobbies are drawing, painting and reading. I do not have a pet although I have been pestering my parents for years to get one.
Why did you join the BYC?
I joined the Brimbank Youth Council to improve and enhance my leadership skills as well as to improve the community of Brimbank for the better, particularly to add more greenery and focus on the environment.
What are you passionate about?
As mentioned above, I am extremely passionate about the environment for our area. I believe we need to set an example for the Greater Western suburbs of Melbourne.
What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?
I am hoping to achieve a greener community and to invest in more green space and parks for our area.
What does a better Brimbank look like to you?
In my opinion, a better Brimbank is a Brimbank with more sense of community, belonging and environment. A Brimbank where everyone strives for self improvement and where everyone stands up for what they believe in.
What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?
One piece of advice I would give is to always believe in yourself and your capabilities because you can make a difference if you try and if you believe in yourself.
