Civics & Citizenship is an interactive 75 minute workshop to support grade 5 and 6 students to learn about local government and active citizenship.
The activities throughout the workshop are aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, and address the following key objectives:
- Increase young people’s understanding of the roles and responsibilities of local government.
- Build young people’s knowledge of the services available through Brimbank City Council and Brimbank Youth Services that support the health and wellbeing of young people.
- Build young people’s knowledge of pathways to engage as active citizens.

The Civics & Citizenship workshop is available for delivery all year – based on our team’s availability.

At this current time, it is only available for grade five and six.
Can our school group do a tour of the Council building as part of this workshop ?
At this current time, we do not run tours through the Brimbank Community & Civic Centre.
This workshop is delivered as an incursion at your school.
How many students can participate in this workshop?
We have a maximum capacity of 50 students for this workshop.
We have more than 50 students, can you deliver two workshops in one day?
Yes, we can!
Are you able to shorten the workshop?
Typically we don’t deliver this session for less than 75 minutes.
It is designed to efficiently respond to school requests.
