Learn how to recognise the signs of mental health problems in young people and support them to get the help they need.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an evidence-based training program that teaches adults how to assist young people aged 12–18 who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Over several interactive sessions, parents, carers, teachers, and community members learn:

  • How to notice early warning signs
  • How to start supportive conversations
  • How to connect young people with appropriate professional help
  • Common mental health challenges faced by young people
  • How to respond in a safe and effective way

The program combines practical strategies, group discussion, and real-life scenarios to build confidence in providing initial support while reducing stigma around mental health.
