Youth Voice

  • Brimbank Learning Futures, Brimbank Youth Services and African Youth Initiative are hosting a Networking 101 workshop for young people aged 16-25! This is a chance to learn the ins and outs of how to network with professionals. Join the workshop on Thursday 21 November at VISY Cares Hub in Sunshine by registering here. FLYER
  • Prevention United recruiting new members for our Youth Ambassadors Group in 2025.  The Youth Ambassadors will meet month from January – December 2025, including a 2-day summer intensive to kick off the program on 15 and 16 January. Members will be paid a $50 voucher per meeting attended, plus a $250 voucher for the summer intensive. Young people aged 16-21 living in Victoria can apply by 21 November here.
  • Swinburne University of Technology is recruiting for a workshop that brings together young men and practitioners to seek feedback and input on recommendations the research group has developed for service providers who work with young men (16-25) who use intimate partner violence. Note: It is not expected that young men have experience of violence, rather their input is required as a member of this age group. The workshop will be held on Thursday 21 November, 12-3pm at Swinburne University in Hawthorn. Registrations and more info here.

Events and opportunities

  • The Zone is back to running the Youth Drop In Centre at Errington Reserve! Hang out at the Errington Reserve in St Albans for a chill space to chill and thrive. Dates on flyer.
  • Australian Muslim Women’s Centre for Human Rights is looking for participants with lived experiences of Child Protection interventions. They would like to interview either a) Muslim parents who have experienced child protection interventions related to their children and b) 18+ year old Muslims who have experienced child protection interventions as children. They will receive a $50 gift voucher for their time. Flyer for young people (aged 18+) and flyer for parents.
  • Deakin University is hosting an event for young people experiencing out of home care on Friday 15 November. This event offers a valuable opportunity for young people with a care background to discover pathways to success and build a sense of belonging in higher education. Get tickets hereFLYER

Programs

  • River Nile School supports young refugee women, aged 15-21, who may have been disengaged from mainstream schooling and/or had disruptions to obtaining education as a result of their refugee experience. Enquire hereFLYER
  • Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is providing free community pantry stocking basic shelf-stable supplies. Collection times are every Wednesday at 10am-12pm. You can also arrange a time to collect supplies. Visit their community garden for fresh herbs & produce. Research Surveys

  • Resilient Research Centre at Western Sydney University is recruiting young people aged 12-18 years old to take part in a 1 hour interview over the coming weeks through to mid-November for our Hope and Resilience in Young Australians project. This project aims to explore young people’s hopes for the future, how they envision the future, what helps to keep them hopeful for the future, and how we can design an engaging survey instrument to explore with young people. Participants will receive a $50 voucher. Register here.
