Youth Voice

  • Brimbank Youth Services is excited announce that applications are now open for the Brimbank Youth Council 2025! This is a great opportunity for young people 12-25 who would like to represent their peers, be involved in decision making and give back to their community! Young people involved will have the opportunity to formally meet with Brimbank’s Councillors as well as work on a campaign about an issue they are interested in.   • The National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council (NEMBC) is forming a nationwide Youth Media Steering Committee to help design and shape the 2025 Melbourne Media Summit. It’s a chance for young people to collaborate with peers across Australia, gain hands-on experience in media project planning, develop leadership and broadcasting skills. Apply here.   • Orygen is now seeking applications for our next Youth Advisory Council (YAC) cohort. Orygen’s Youth Advisory Council is a passionate group of young leaders aged 18–25 from across Australia, dedicated to transforming youth mental health. Orygen is looking for 15 young people from across Australia to apply for the next YAC cohort, whose two-year term will start in early 2025. Apply here by 17 December 2024.

Events and opportunities

  • Brimbank Council’s CUL-TI-VATE Program is a 6-week program that is designed for entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs to accelerate the process of validating an idea, understanding if there is a market for it and then determining the viability for it. Program begins 12 March 2025. Apply here. More info here.
  • Reclink & West Sunshine Community Centre will host a Summer Outdoor Futsal program starting next week – till March 2025. The focus is on having fun and meeting new people. There is plenty of spots available across 3 session times. Register here. FLYER
  • The Zone is back to running the Youth Drop In Centre at Errington Reserve! Hang out at the Errington Reserve in St Albans for a chill space to chill and thrive. Dates on flyer.

Programs

  • River Nile School supports young refugee women, aged 15-21, who may have been disengaged from mainstream schooling and/or had disruptions to obtaining education as a result of their refugee experience. Enquire hereFLYER
  • Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is providing free community pantry stocking basic shelf-stable supplies. Collection times are every Wednesday at 10am-12pm. You can also arrange a time to collect supplies. Visit their community garden for fresh herbs & produce. Get in touch with if you’d like to donate to the pantry or volunteer with them at www.kcnh.org.au FLYER
