Youth Voice Opportunities
- Zoo Victoria is looking for young people aged 13-19 years across Victoria who are passionate about wildlife, conservation, and youth leadership to apply for their Youth Advisory Committee! Applications close 11 March. This is voluntary but participants will receive a $50 voucher for each in-person meeting attendance. Apply here. FLYER
- University of Melbourne and ALIVE Network are inviting young people aged 18-25 with experience of loneliness to participate in creative co-design workshops. A-Part of the Crowd is a national research project working alongside young people to reimagine how we support youth loneliness to shape better mental health support for young people. Participants will be reimbursed for their time. Register here.
- You can alternatively submit your story for this project and be reimbursed. More info here.
Events and opportunities
- Amelia Vu, young residency artist is presenting her new work, Without Words at the Bowery on Friday 21 February and Saturday 22 February at 7pm. A great opportunity to see some incredible Street Dance and storytelling including krump, waacking, house and hip hop. Register here.
- Brimbank Youth Services is hosting Summer Sundown, your go-to hangout event every Wednesday at the VISY Cares Hub. Come through for free food and drinks, DJs playing tunes, and games! Every Wednesday 3:30-5pm. FLYER
- Western Bulldogs Community Foundation is delivering Sons of the West and Daughters of the West in Brimbank! Both programs are commencing in March at the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre. FLYER
- Youth Projects is addressing the need for more youth hang out spaces in St Albans, are running Friday Kickback sessions at Victoria University St Albans Health & Fitness Centre at 3-4pm. Young people aged 15-25 from the St Albans area are welcome to attend. Map of youth space. Flyer
Programs
- Brimbank City Council’s Climate Emergency Plan 2020-2025 is drawing to a close and Council will be delivering a new Climate Emergency Strategy to guide our climate action for the years to come. In March and April, Council is asking community what they understand about climate change, their concerns and what actions they want Council to take. Get involved by:
- Attend a Drop-In Session at:
- Deer Park Library – no registrations needed
- Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre Foyer – no registration needed
- Participate in Community Climate Forum on Saturday 12 April. Register here.

- North Sunshine Roadrunners‘ Soccer Junior Training program is returned, for boys and girls aged 5-14 years. Contact details on flyer.
- Brimbank Council’s CUL-TI-VATE Program is a 6-week program that is designed for entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs to accelerate the process of validating an idea, understanding if there is a market for it and then determining the viability for it. Program begins 12 March 2025. Apply here. More info here.
- West Sunshine Community Centre has released its term 1 program for 2025. Highlights include:
- Outdoor Futsal program every Wednesday until March 2025. The focus is on having fun and meeting new people. There is plenty of spots available across 3 session times. Register here.
- Basketball program for boys and girls of all ages with Manny Hendrix. Register here.
- Social Soccer every Wednesday until 26 March for young people aged 16+. Teams are invited to register play. Register here. FLYER
- River Nile School supports young refugee women, aged 15-21, who may have been disengaged from mainstream schooling and/or had disruptions to obtaining education as a result of their refugee experience. Enquire here. FLYER
- Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is providing free community pantry stocking basic shelf-stable supplies. Collection times are every Wednesday at 10am-12pm. You can also arrange a time to collect supplies. Visit their community garden for fresh herbs & produce.
