Youth Voice Opportunities
- Telstra Foundation is looking for 20 young people aged 12-18 in Australia to join its Youth Advisory Council. Participating will include coming up with ideas, giving feedback on projects, creating content that helps and resonates with other young people. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in events and be featured in media. Members will be paid $40/hour, requiring about 4-6 hours a month commitment. Apply here by 17 March.
- YLab and the eSafety Commissioner are establishing the Tech-based Abuse Youth Advisory Group to ensure that young people’s voices shape national online safety initiatives to address tech-based abuse. They are recruiting 10 young people aged 18-25 who may have been exposed to tech-based abuse. Participate in 5 online workshops and be paid $150. Apply here.
- Zoo Victoria is looking for young people aged 13-19 years across Victoria who are passionate about wildlife, conservation, and youth leadership to apply for their Youth Advisory Committee! Applications close 11 March. This is voluntary but participants will receive a $50 voucher for each in-person meeting attendance. Apply here. FLYER
- University of Melbourne and ALIVE Network are inviting young people aged 18-25 with experience of loneliness to participate in creative co-design workshops. A-Part of the Crowd is a national research project working alongside young people to reimagine how we support youth loneliness to shape better mental health support for young people. Participants will be reimbursed for their time. Register here.

- River Nile School is hosting a Harmony Day Block Party on Thursday 3 April, and young people aged 16-24 are invited to this free event! Booking is essential, register here.
- River Nile School is also seeking EOIs from young people from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds who may be interested in performing or sharing a talent at the event. Submit an EOI to perform here.
- Western Bulldogs Community Foundation is delivering Sons of the West and Daughters of the West in Brimbank! Both programs are commencing in March at the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre. FLYER
- Youth Projects is addressing the need for more youth hang out spaces in St Albans, are running Friday Kickback sessions at Victoria University St Albans Health & Fitness Centre at 3-4pm. Young people aged 15-25 from the St Albans area are welcome to attend. Map of youth space. Flyer
Training and Employment Opportunities
- Trans Gender Victoria presents the trans and gender diverse job fair on Friday 23 May! This offers This event presents an incredible opportunity for trans and gender diverse job seekers to connect with leading companies, organisations and not-for-profits to explore a wide range of career options. Programs
- Looking for something to do in the school holidays? The Show-bags Ballot is now open! For young people aged 10 to 17 who live, work, study and/or socialise in the city of Brimbank. Enter the ballot for your chance to purchase a heavily subsidised show-bag. Each show-bag includes 2x passes to Brimbank Leisure Centres and 2x passes to your chosen activity—offering great value at just $16 full price or $6 with a concession card! - Brimbank Learning Futures is offering 1 to 1 free career counselling to support you to achieve your education, training and employment goals. You could walk away with a referral to a local employer, a new cover letter or resume, increased interview skills, or new employment/education/training knowledge! This is for anybody looking for support to find work. Held every Wednesday afternoon, 1pm – 5pm in 1 hour slots. Book your slot by calling 9249 4116 or email at blfvisycareshub@brimbank.vic.gov.au
- BLF is also running practise mock interview sessions. Be interviewed in a friendly and supportive environment by another young person! This is for anybody looking to refine or practise their interview skills, or looking to gain confidence in an interview setting. Held every Thursday afternoon, 2pm – 5pm in 30 minute slots. - Brimbank City Council’s Climate Emergency Plan 2020-2025 is drawing to a close and Council will be delivering a new Climate Emergency Strategy to guide our climate action for the years to come. In March and April, Council is asking community what they understand about climate change, their concerns and what actions they want Council to take. Get involved by:
