Youth Voice Opportunities

  • VicHealth and a range of partners are inviting young people register to participate in a Working Group to help shape an online, culturally relevant, vaping awareness campaign for their communities – starting on Tuesday 17 June, online. 
  • Headspace and Movember is looking for 10 diverse young men aged 16-18 across Australia to form their first Youth Action Council! Participants will be paid $1,500 and have opportunity to have an impact on young men’s wellbeing. Apply here by 15 June.
  • YACVic is hosting an online focus group with young people aged 18-25 living in Victoria to hear their views on voting in Victoria and the ways young people access information about enrolling and voting in elections. Focus group session will be on Thursday 18 June 5-7PM. Participants will be paid $100. Register here by 10 June.
  • Brimbank is excited to bring you the Young Entrepreneur Summit (YES), a free full-day leadership and entrepreneurship event designed for secondary students and young people aged 18-25. It’s fast-paced, hands-on and packed with practical skills from creative problem-solving to pitching ideas and learning from real young entrepreneurs.

  • Youth 4 Youth Inc., a youth-led non-profit based in Melbourne’s west are running their Y4Y Career Season – a series of free engaging online sessions where students hear directly from young professionals, local leaders (including school principals, mayors and researchers), and university students. These workshops are designed to be welcoming and uplifting, helping students feel confident, supported, and empowered as they explore the next steps after high school. FLYER
  • Brimbank Youth Arts Committee is a youth-led working group supported by Amplify (previously FReeZA) where young people can get training on event management and production, find volunteer opportunities and get hands-on experience working in creative industries for your CV. Sign up here

Events and opportunities

  • Brimbank’s School Holiday Showbags Ballot is now open for the upcoming July school holidays! We are accepting referrals from community services and schools, working with vulnerable young people, from now until Sunday 22 June. Through this referral young people are guaranteed a show bag and the cost is absorbed by the referring agency, making the pack FREE to the young person. If you are making a referral for a young person aged 18-25 please contact us prior to making the referral, as the initiative is primarily for young people aged 10 -17yrs.     • Every school holidays, we run a Show-bags Ballot, which offers low-cost vouchered activities to young people aged 10 to 17 who live, work, study and/or socialise in the city of Brimbank. Young people can choose from one of 5 activities at a subsidised cost of $16 or $6 with a concession card. More info about this program and general ballot hereFLYER
  • The Youth Junction Inc. are running an after school drop-program program on Wednesdays for young people aged 12-17 for the remaining of Term 2. Program runs at Vic Uni Sunshine Campus – Free Shuttle Bus to attend. FLYER
  • Give Until It Hurts is hosting an event for Refugee Week on 12 June. Join to hear from guest speakers and providers. Will be held at the Bowery Theatre in St Albans at 10:30am-12:30pm with lunch provided. RSVP details in FLYER

Programs

  • West Sunshine Community Centre with BYS are delivering a Saturday Drop-in Basketball program at West Sunshine Community Centre for YP starting 24 May. FLYER
  • Helping Hand Project is a mentoring program for young people of refugee background. They match volunteer mentors to support refugee youth aged 14-25 to help with skills development, homework, education pathways, English, connections to social and recreational networks and learning and development goals the young person identifies. Referral Form  FLYER
  • Brimbank Learning Futures is offering 1 to 1 free career counselling to support you to achieve your education, training and employment goals. You could walk away with a referral to a local employer, a new cover letter or resume, increased interview skills, or new employment/education/training knowledge! This is for anybody looking for support to find work. Held every Wednesday afternoon, 1pm – 5pm in 1 hour slots. Book your slot by calling 9249 4116 or email at blfvisycareshub@brimbank.vic.gov.au
    • BLF is also running practise mock interview sessions. Be interviewed in a friendly and supportive environment by another young person! This is for anybody looking to refine or practise their interview skills, or looking to gain confidence in an interview setting. Training

  • Brimbank is hosting Jesuit Community College to deliver the Construction Induction Course (White Card) on Thursday 19 June. The course will teach you how to develop personal safety awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.   • Brimbank’s Schools and Community Organisations Exchange is hosting a emotion regulation workshop to teach strategies to help students regulation their emotions, identify signs of emotional distress, and share tools to establish calm learning environments. David Berlinski, psychologist from Toolbox Education will be facilitating. Join us on Thursday 26 June from 9:30am for the workshop. RSVP by emailing learning@brimbank.vic.gov.au FLYER

Grants

  • The Brimbank Annual Community Grants 2025/2026 offers one-off financial assistance to not-for-profit organisations and incorporated community groups, to deliver projects and activities that benefit our community.
