Be Part of the #BrimbankYouth Video Campaign!

What is it?

The #BrimbankYouth campaign is a project that aims to capture the voices, positivity and resilience of our local young people through short video clips that give a snapshot of their day-to-day lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this initiative is to highlight and celebrate the many ways in which our youth add value to our community.

The project will showcase how young people have been taking care of themselves and others during this pandemic. It will also explore how young people are envisioning the world to be post-coronavirus.

The video campaign will be made up of three videos. Each video will be an edited compilation of shorter videos/submissions made by young people. Each video will focus on one of these themes:

  1. SELF – How have #BrimbankYouth been looking after themselves over the past few months (both mentally and physically)?
  2. COMMUNITY – How have #BrimbankYouth been active in helping their communities?
  3. VISION – What do #BrimbankYouth hope for the future of our community, our country and the world?

Why should I take part?

Be heard! A lot of present-day news stories do not accurately depict or include our youth. A very small percentage of media focuses on young people or endeavours to cover issues from a youth perspective. There have also been stories that blame and stereotype young people as a group that do not observe social distancing guidelines.

By being involved in this campaign, you will be helping to prove the opposite. Young people – like everyone else – are responsibly doing their best to slow the spread and take care of both themselves and their loved ones during this crisis.

As part of your involvement, you will also be reimbursed with a $20 eGift Card (either from Coles, Woolworths or JB Hi-Fi). This will be sent to you via email.

How will the videos be used?

Our goal is to spread the #BrimbankYouth message as much as possible. The videos will primarily be shared on our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) and also our website. They will also be featured on various local and metro media platforms.

Who can participate?

All young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study and/or have a strong connection to the city of Brimbank are encouraged to take part. This includes young people of all backgrounds and identities.

What do I need to provide?

We will go into more detail about this when you get in touch with us, but in general:

To be part of this campaign, you will need to provide video/s of yourself responding to some prompts and questions related to the themes outlined above.

Think of it as an interview, but less scary, more fun and completely online! We are happy to support you in whatever way we can, so feel free to reach out if you need help at any point.
