Tell us about yourself!

I’m an 18-year-old who is deeply passionate about event planning and community engagement. There’s something about bringing people together, creating an atmosphere, and seeing everyone have a great time that excites me.

I also have a strong desire to give back to my community. I believe in the power of collaboration and want to make a real difference by creating events that not only bring people together but also support local causes and foster positive change. I’m always looking for new ways to learn and grow in both event planning and community involvement, and I can’t wait to turn my passion into a career. Every event is an opportunity to learn something new, meet amazing people, and make an impact!

Why did you join the BYC?

I joined the Brimbank Youth Council to use my voice to create positive change and give back to the community that’s shaped me. I’m passionate about advocacy, especially around issues like mental health, education, and equality, and I believe young people deserve to be heard and involved in decisions that affect them.

Being part of BYC allows me to contribute to meaningful projects, support local youth, and help build a stronger, more connected Brimbank. I want to make a difference and encourage others to do the same.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about building community, staying active, and making a positive impact wherever I can. I love event planning—bringing people together for a shared purpose or cause is something that really excites me. Whether it’s helping organize a local event or being part of a team project, I enjoy the process and the connection it creates.

My faith also plays an important role in my life—it guides my values and inspires me to give back and support others. I like staying busy and involved, whether it’s through volunteering, participating in community activities, or just finding new ways to grow and contribute. Being engaged keeps me motivated and helps me make the most of every opportunity.

What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?

As a BYC member this year, I’m hoping to make a meaningful impact by advocating for the issues that matter most to young people in Brimbank. I want to help create events and initiatives that foster a stronger sense of community, where everyone feels supported and heard. I’m also excited to build my leadership skills, learn from other passionate members, and collaborate on projects that can bring about positive change. Ultimately, I want to be a part of a team that helps amplify youth voices, creates opportunities for personal growth, and strengthens connections within our community.

What does a better Brimbank look like to you?

A better Brimbank is a place where every young person feels heard, valued, and supported. It’s a community where access to opportunities—whether in education, employment, or mental health—are equal for all. I imagine a Brimbank where diversity is celebrated, and people of all backgrounds can come together to share their ideas, cultures, and experiences.

It’s a place with vibrant community spaces, where events and activities foster connection and well-being. A better Brimbank also empowers youth to take on leadership roles and have a direct impact on the decisions that shape our future. Most importantly, it’s a community where kindness, respect, and inclusivity are the foundation of everything we do.

What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?

My advice is simple: start by listening. Understand the needs and concerns of your community—whether it’s through talking to people, attending local meetings, or just being present. Change happens when you truly know what others need and care about. From there, you can build a plan that brings people together and creates real, lasting impact.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of persistence. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with passion, determination, and the support of others, you can make a difference. Stay committed, even when things get tough!
