Meet Jesse: Your 2025 Brimbank Youth Councillor

It’s time to meet your 2025 Brimbank Youth Council!

The Brimbank Youth Council is made up of young people in the area, who are motivated, excited and determined to represent the young community of Brimbank.

2025 Brimbank Youth Councillor Jesse is a Year 10 student, who thrives in sports and is drawn to the legal world. Find out more about him below!

Tell us more about yourself!

Hi! My name is Jesse, and I’m a dedicated and active year 10 student passionate about academics and extracurricular pursuits. I thrive in physical activities, such as volleyball and soccer, and always enjoy my time at the gym. I’m particularly drawn to legal studies and how they make our world run.

Why did you join the BYC?

I joined Brimbank Youth Council because I’ve always wanted to help people and give back to the community in which I grew up. My decision to become part of such a meaningful opportunity stems from the fact that Brimbank has shaped and inspired me throughout my life. It’s only natural for me to want to give back to the environment and community.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about youth education and community opportunities.. The myriad of opportunities provided to youth will shape our community for generations to come.

Education is a pivotal part of how we interpret the world we live in today, and with education and opportunities, I believe we can do anything we put our minds to.

What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?

I want to connect with other young people in my community in a meaningful way while deepening my understanding of how governance works. I’m eager to learn how decisions are made, actively contribute to discussions on important issues, and advocate for practical solutions that genuinely improve the lives of young people in Brimbank.

What does a better Brimbank look like to you?

A better Brimbank in my eyes would be where we as council members would be able to listen and communicate with the Brimbank community, like a linking chain. A community where we can have many opportunities to thrive in.

What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?

My advice to fellow young people is to always make your own decisions first. “If you don’t make a decision for yourself first, someone else will decide for you”. The act of always putting yourself forward, whether that be new opportunities, change or helping others, will give us more control in our lives.
