Free Support and Counselling: B-Heard

One of the cornerstones of Brimbank Youth Services is B-Heard, a no-cost, private and confidential youth support and counselling program.

B-Heard is there for young people who:

  • Need someone to talk to
  • Are going through a hard time
  • Are dealing with family conflict or relationship issues
  • Want to strengthen their self-esteem
  • Need help linking in with other specialist services

Sessions are delivered by friendly, trained youth workers mainly at Visy Cares Hub in Sunshine CBD, making it easy and low-pressure to reach out for help.

Building Youth Voice

For young people who want to make a real difference in their community, the Brimbank Youth Council is a standout opportunity. It’s a six-month leadership program open to those aged 12–25 who live, work, study or socialise in Brimbank.

Past youth councils have tackled issues like youth homelessness, study tips, and community safety.

Young creatives in Brimbank also have an outlet through The Bold Source, a youth-produced magazine that gives local young people a platform to share their stories, ideas and creative work with the wider community.

Creating Safe Spaces

Crystal Queer is a fun social support group for LGBTIQA+ young people aged 16–25 who live, work or study in Brimbank. It offers a welcoming, judgement-free space to connect with peers, build community and access support tailored to LGBTIQA+ experiences.

Glow is a weekly after-school social program for girls aged 11 to 16, encouraging them to move, connect and have fun through games and challenges. It’s designed to build confidence and help them stay active with hula-hooping, lawn games or pickleball.

Get Your School Involved

Brimbank Youth Services also offers various school programs, for both primary and secondary school students in the Brimbank area, such as:

  • Build Up – Body Image: A wellbeing program for young women to challenge unrealistic beauty standards, build body confidence and foster kindness toward themselves and others.
  • Civics & Citizenship: An interactive 75-minute workshop to support grade five and six students to learn about local government and active citizenship.
Inclusive Events

Brimbank Youth Services also runs inclusive community events such as Summer Sundown — an after-school event held at Visy Cares Hub in the summer, offering free food and drinks, activities and prizes for young people aged 10 to 25 years.
