It’s with great pleasure to introduce your 2022 Brimbank Youth Council: Sebastian Foliaki!

Name: Sebastian Foliaki

Pronouns: he/him

Suburb: Aintree

Tell us more about yourself!

I like to play sport, my favorite sports include volleyball, rugby, basketball and netball. I also like to eat like maccas, hungry jacks etc i also like to listen to music especially music from back home in nz and pasifika music.

Why did you join the BYC?

The reason why I joined the BYC was because I wanted to represent pasifika peoples in Brimbank and help tackle issues that pasifika and the youth community are facing. I intend to work with others to see that our community is taken care of and I especially wanted to join the BYC to help contribute to ensuring that Brimbank retains a clean environment as well as seeing that physical and mental health of the youth of Brimbank is well cared for especially during this pandemic.

What are you passionate about?

Issues that are important to me are issues that regard education in our community as well as seeing that our community remains healthy mentally and physically and ensuring that brimbank has a clean and hygienic enviornment.

What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?

I am hoping to see a growth in motivation in schools, the decrease of waste in Brimbank, increase support in mental health for our youth and the increase of encouragements to live a longer life through supports to physical health.

What does a better Brimbank look like to you?

A better Brimbank to me is a Brimbank with clean and healthy enviornment, increase of support for everyone and a happy and enjoyable atmosphere.

What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?

Don’t hide away in the shadows but come out stand and let your voice be heard.
