Brimbank Youth Council Update: 001

 In News

Hi everyone!

My name is Sarah, and I am a member of the Brimbank Youth Council. Today I’d like to talk about who we are and what we have been up to as of lately.

The BYC is a group of young people who are passionate about representing the youth in Brimbank and about creating positive change in their community.

We will work alongside the Brimbank City Council, collaborating and exchanging ideas on youth and community-related issues.

Despite these challenging times, the Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped the BYC. We now have formal online meetings every fortnight, which are planned during a catch up meeting in between.

At our last meeting, everyone presented a project idea that they were interested in, such as developing a rubbish bin system in Kororoit Creek, or teaching youth about mental health and self-care.

We also use these meetings as an opportunity to check in with each other and make sure everyone is okay, as it is so important to look after one another.

We will continue to work harder than ever, as our next step is to begin developing our projects. We are so excited to show what the BYC is capable of!

Stay safe everyone!
