Meet Eangano – 10 Young People Of Brimbank!
Victorian Youth Week is a ten-day celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 years old that takes place each year in April.
Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we unfortunately had to cancel many events. Although that doesn’t mean the celebration is over!
In Brimbank, we’re celebrating YOUTH WEEK by highlighting the uniqueness, talents and creativity of 10 young individuals in our community including EANGANO!
Tell us three things about you
- Living and working in Brimbank
- A very active member of the Brimbank Community
- Love working with children, youths and young adults
Where is your favourite place or activity in Brimbank?
Errington Reserve, St Albans and Kevin Flint Reserve, Cairnlea.
What do you hope for the future of Brimbank? OR What is one thing you would like to improve about our community?
I hope the people of Brimbank soon will no longer be included in the negative statistics that puts us as one of the most inactive city areas in Victoria.
What’s one achievement or accomplishment that you are proud of?
Since 2012, actively trying to better the lives of those living in our community through programs, workshops, events and projects. I have been aware of the terrible stats for the Brimbank area in terms of crime rates, levels of inactivity, homelessness and lack of programs and events targeting different groups since I was 15 years old. And not being one who waits for heroes, so to speak, I decided to slowly start challenging some of those stats at 15 years. And fast forward 8 years later, in 2020, I am still doing just that.
Now that you have more free time at home, how are you spending it?
Playing traditional family games, working, online studies, taking on Facebook challenges, keeping fit through in-house exercise.
What’s your number 1 tip or advice for other young people who are staying at home/self-isolating?
Don’t be alarmed by the grand change. Keep your normal routine, even if it means a modified version. Set times and schedules like those you’d normally have on the everyday.
– Stay heathy, don’t overeat, complete an hour of exercise daily.
– Do less screen time, and more physical book time.
– Get OUTDOOR TIMES e.g. Backyard and front yard.
Thanks EANGANO, the @brimbankyouthservices team wishes you the very best for all the future ventures, that life has in store for you!
