#MEETBYC Maddi Alberty
🤔❓ Did you know that Brimbank has a Youth Council? Now you do! It’s with great pleasure to introduce to you our 2021 Brimbank Youth Councillor Maddi Alberty!
Name: Maddi Alberty
Pronouns: She/Her
Suburb: West Footscray
Tell us more about yourself!
I enjoy hanging out with my housemates and my 2 cats, my hobbies include playing animal crossing and sims, buying plants to add to my huge collection and propagating plants to give to friends, adventuring around my area and finding new interesting things to expand my knowledge on.
Why did you decide to stay on in the BYC?
I decided to stay on the BYC because i enjoyed it so much last year and this year we will have more of a chance to learn more and express our voices without covid interfering with in person meetings.
What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about youth mental health and getting their voices heard. I care most about this because youth think they need to keep quiet or arent going to be heard which is making a huge toll on their growth and needs being met. My passion is important to the Brimbank community because youth need to be heard and be comfortable to seek help and know where to find the help or where to have their voices heard.
What are you hoping to achieve as a BYC member this year?
Make a small difference, whether that’s in the community or amongst the other members.
What’s one piece of advice you have for young people who want to create change in their community?
Don’t be afraid to speak up about something you’re passionate about, you never know where it’ll take you.
