#meettheorganisation – Charis Mentoring
We continue our #meettheorganisation campaign with Charis Mentoring!
Can you please tell us a bit about Charis Mentoring?
Charis Mentoring – a Pasifika youth organisation dedicated to supporting our young people grow in knowing their value as Pasifika.
Our vision is to see young people in their element serving and leading the way
Our mission is to innovate mediums of inspiration, impact and influence
What young people are eligible for your service?
Young Pasifika people aged between 13 – 25
How are you offering support to youth in the community? What can you help young people achieve?
School Mentoring Programs – We are currently providing mentoring at Victoria University Secondary School and Copperfield College
Youth Justice Programs – We provide One on One mentoring support to young people who are currently in the youth justice system
Community Leadership Programs – We equip youth leaders from different Pasifika communities with the skills to help them develop, plan and execute their own community projects within the community.
How did your service delivery change during Covid-19 restrictions/ lockdown?
We have had to adapt to working online – learn how to engage more effectively online with young people and colleagues – Learn how to best utilise different platforms to our advantage and made us more flexible in how we are able to deliver some of our programs. Young people in our team have supported us to utilise platforms such as youtube, video blogs, and helping us to have a greater presence on social media. This has meant we were able to focus more on online campaigns and be a bit more social media savvy and up to date which helps us connect better with young people in understanding what’s hot and whats not.
